FE for Minecraft 1.7?

Because there are a shitload of whiners and shit out there, I’ve gone and written a FAQ for FE and Minecraft 1.7. Any other questions, please comment. THERE IS NO DOWNLOAD YET – DON’T EVEN TRY TO LOOK

Q: When will this be released?

A: When it’s ready (which is what everyone says). As usual, you can grab test builds from Jenkins when they’re out.

Q: Will my 1.6 data be preserved, with Mojang moving to UUIDs and all that?

A: Yes, and no. I haven’t worked out the specifics yet, but I might be including some 1.6 backward compatibility code in the 1.7 builds.

Q: Where can I see some progress being done on the update?

A: Quit bitching.

Q: What does this update enable?

A: Significant FML/Forge changes mean I can do a few things:

  • Fix network system, so guis work properly
  • Add some additional features, that weren’t possible with FML interfaces but are now
  • (hopefully, depends on this) Have a proper Permissions API in Forge

Q: What happened to WorldControl?

A: I decided to remove it, as the BlockID removal changes in 1.7 means that it wouldn’t be easy to update that particular module. We are currently waiting for WorldEdit Forge to be updated to 1.7.10, so you can use it, along with the (now in alpha testing) WorldEdit Integration module for ForgeEssentials.
